How To Start Your Own Counseling Practice

Nexus Caio. Review by Templar and Racing

SOME 'OF HISTORY

Successor Nexus 7, Nexus Caio is the second knife designed and made by the group Nexus produce in 80 specimens from a Maniago famous company.

The goals have remained the same: choose the best design, weight and materials according to the tasks that the knife should play, no expense spared.

For this reason both the Nexus Nexus Caio 7 that can be defined as truly innovative, because the materials used were never used in cutlery.

The number of units produced is the minimum required by the company to accept the job and was also dictated by the quantities of materials, not low.

The surplus is sold at cost price, for enthusiasts, users and collectors around the world (in the true sense of the word), e-bay and foreign forum. BECAUSE SOME

Overall Length: 320 mm

Blade length: 190 mm Length

handle: 130 mm

Minimum width blade: 40 mm

blade width: 44.5 mm

handle width: 36.7 mm Thickness

shank and heel: 7.4 mm Blade thickness

(all ' beginning of the bevel): 7 mm Thickness

handle: 20 mm

Weight (without covers): 520 gr

fulcrum: slightly in front of the guard.

Blade Material: Stainless A8 amended, 59 Hrc. For this steel at this hardness readings are resilience (measured by testing Charpy C-Notch) of 160 J. The heat treatment was a specialist aphids and done in a vacuum furnace. It 'ran the warm-up and triple tempering in the area of \u200b\u200bsecondary hardening, so as to exploit the content of elements carburigeni steel, thereby supporting the holding of the wire at the expense of oxidation resistance and corrosone, which still remains at discrete levels.

Material handle: Nema FR5. It is a glass epoxy laminate with mechanical properties comparable to those of the most famous Nema G10. Compared to the latter, however, the FR5 is self-extinguishing and maintains the mechanical properties at higher temperatures.

The preconditions for a high quality knife, but there are to be able to judge the need to observe how it behaves the field.

field testing

Nexus Caio in hand with a sense of reliability and power. Let's see if these impressions are confirmed.

Over time several tests were made. From the evidence of chopping up pieces of wood, fresh and seasoned with a diameter of between 1 and 10 cm and on fragments of plaster and concrete evidence of batoning, cutting rope and cables with metal, penetration tests and handling (do points to the various branches of the type and size) and more.

The knife has been shown to have a good grip of the wire in the cutting operation for scrolling (cutting rope, paper, cardboard, make a point to branches) and an excellent seal the wire in cutting materials tough (with metal wires) and cuts to impact (chopping and batoning), thanks to the tenacity and elasticity of the steel used and which has undergone heat treatment (which has led to the complete precipitation of hard carbides).

The Nexus Caio has also proved very effective in cutting firewood seasoned, and for chopping the ivories for those batoning. Particularly acute bevel angle, the weight generous but not excessive, the geometry of the knife and good handling make it the blade has a good penetration while still providing the ability to maintain a good frequency of strokes sena arm and excessive fatigue wrist.

were also carried out cutting tests on cables with metal, plaster and cement. The

Caio also demonstrated on these occasions its high resilience and grip the wire. After the tests of chopping up pieces of concrete wire ripoprtato has some minor bending, because the angle of sharpening dull (picture below). With a sharpening (grinding with diamond DC3) was placed Brillat.

fresh wood on the results change a bit '. In fact, the angle of the bevel, so that helps cut the old wood, the wood tends fresh in some cases to engage the blade, expanding the time to do the cutting.

After various tests done, however, one realizes that this is merely the inevitable result of a compromise, however, at least in my opinion, brings more benefits than disadvantages.

fact, the shape of bevels, thanks to the recess for the index, the "hump" knurled on the back and the balance a little advanced, it makes the Nexus Caio also effective for work leggeri o di precisione come fare la punta a rami e rametti di vario tipo, dimensione e durezza, affettare cartone, tagliare cordame (tenendo in mano le due estremità), intagliare la legna, ecc.

Sega grande (lama lunga circa 60 cm): 3' 11"

Sega media (lama lunga circa 30 cm): 7'

Può capitare quindi che, after cutting fruit, vegetables or fresh wood knife found some slight halo opaque oxide, which however is not harmful, as it rigurda performance of the knife it to health and can be easily removed by using products such as the Sidoli.

rust but will much more difficult to emerge but as stainless steel is used not just as well clean, at least briefly, the knife after each use (or will soon have the opportunity, without allowing dirt for weeks or months) and oil it (oil, petroleum jelly is fine), there also occur to reduce oxidation or corrosion worse.

Personally I left
coltlello, stained sap wood, for days, placed in its leather sheath and a few have surfaced only slightly opaque stains are removed with a towel (disposable) to clean his glasses.

We come to the "painful notes," if we can define.

The grip, comfortable and durable, although a po'sovradimensionata for those with small hands can be removed for easy cleaning and maintenance. The problem is that FR5 tollerrazne between handle and tang are very small. It is therefore very difficult (but certainly not impossible) to remove the handle and screws. You will need to equip yourself with a pair of pliers for snap rings or wrench to unscrew the male screw, a small nail or a small Allen wrench to put on the female to remove them from their home, something (a log or a rubber hammer) to beat on the handle and a good dose of patience . The same is true for the assembly of the handle.

Concluding Nexus Caio is a great field knife: powerful, versatile and also easy to handle, given its size and weight. One of the best knives (if not the best) of this type, in circulation, prices are extremely honest, when compared with that of the "competitors".

Apart from the difficulty of removal and replacement of the grip, the only other observations that I can do about the sharpening angle, which for a knife like that could be less acute, despite the tightness of the wire remains very high, for the hump on his back in that long and heavy mesh sub-hilt is a little 'back (since the index tends to relax completely) and the edges of the guard towards the blade, which could be blunted in order to improve the convenience of taking advanced (which is still comfortable).

Well, some things could be better, but it's the little details that affect the actual functionality and goodness of the Nexus Caio.

On balance then this knife is reveal truly exceptional, the best field knife I've ever used and probably the best so far built.
